Home Buying in Weston>Question Details

C, Home Buyer in Davie, FL

Can someone explain to me what makes Weston so desirable? Why should I pay more in Weston and get less?

Asked by C, Davie, FL Mon Jun 30, 2008

We looked into Davie and Cooper City. It seems we can get more for the money in those areas compared to Weston. There are some communities in Weston that seem to be very desirable compared to others. What sets them apart? I have also heard of many issues regarding Weston but I would like to get more unbiased information about the area before making a move.

O.K., lets start with the market... it is a buyer's market, but Weston is proving that it has staying power against other communities when it comes to markets we are experiencing currently. Beyond that, and more directly is the bottomline question - what can a community provide you that will save you money? In Weston its the public schools. Friends and family I know living in Weston send their children to the local public school, sometimes walking to them, and are very happy with the education and the sense of community they experience. Down side to Weston currently is the high school situation. If you move to Weston now, your children will be attending Western High in Davie, not the high school on the western edge of Weston. Plantation, Davie and Cooper City are great cities to live in and each provides something different even within its own boundaries. In general, Broward is a great county to live in. If you would like to further explore finding a home in our area, please feel free to call me or leave an email. 954-612-0083 or attila.laczko@floridamoves.com.

Good question
There are several factors: security, good schools, good city planning, privacy, excellent sports areas, a clean city, 70% of the population are families with children and is a beautiful city.

Weston has pretty new housing at every income level in guarded and gated communities. Many of the housing communities have community pools. The crime rate is low and the schools have high ratings. Weston Regional park has tons of activities for kids. The streets have side walks and bike paths right next to them. The landscaping is quite desirable to look at and seems to be impectably maintained. There are 6 Publix supermarkets, restaurants are nearby and the roadways are well maintained and very accessible to the expressways.
