Can a semi retired couple to find a fixer upper HOME (not condo) in the $200-250K price range in a nice safe attractive area in San Diego county?

Asked by Sandra Davisson, San Diego County, CA Thu Feb 28, 2013

We do NOT need to commute into San Diego or Orange County for work and although we'd love to live near the beach, we realize we would have to sacrifice quality and square footage to do so for the price we can afford as we know we could get a roomier home located in an area a little further inland. (San Marcos maybe?) We'd like around 1500 square feet. (I need space for my craft studio). We want an attached garage, nice lot with trees, in a good neighborhood without old cars parked everywhere and bars on the windows. We will be moving this summer.
