Can I obtain insurance claims made on a house? Can I be denied insurance due to the seller's numerous past claims?

Asked by Sharon, El Paso, TX Wed Nov 21, 2012

I'm concerned about condition of water pipes bursting during the big freeze in El Paso, and electrical wiring in a house built in 1951.

Can you receive $$ from claims made before you owned the house, NO!
Can you be denied insurance, YES, and Insurance Company can deny you coverage, they have that right. Would it be because of previous claims, YES, it could.
If there was a perpetual problem with pipes bursting, they will want some assurance that the problem has been fixed. Insurance Companies do not like to pay for pre-existing conditions.

Are you trying to get an Insurance Company to pay for up-grading your house?
It doesn't work that way.
