Of course you can but as is often the case, you will have to make some sacrifice to find something in your price range. It's funny but even buyers of million dollar units have to do the same thing. For example, would you be willing to live in a walk-up? What about a kitchen that's a bit dated? How do you feel about Jackson Street or even Monroe? Some of the choices you might be able to do something about in the future - like redoing a kitchen or bath. Others, like location and unit size you cannot change.
I suggest you do a few things - make a list of what's most important to you in a home. And keep a notebook with you to take notes as you go looking at places. There is so much on the market now and sellers are finally becoming more negotiable so you are in a favorable position. Still, it helps to keep your goals in mind and to keep track of what you've seen.
I post new listings, price changes, and everything that sold or went under contract every Wednesday as part of my "Weekly Wednesday Wrap-Up" at http://hobokenrealestatenews.com
You can keep your eye on what's come on the market and what's been reduced.
Of course, I'm happy to speak with you if you prefer. Good luck!
