Dear Jeanne & Julie,

You ask an excellent question. I am a Full Time REALTOR & Retired Middle School Math Teacher. The BEST advice I can give to you is to contact the following to get the BEST & most complete answer to your question:

from the MA State Dept of Education (DOE) ...
a.) http://www.doe.mass.edu/parents.html
b.) http://www.doe.mass.edu
you can also contact each school district on line to get information they post.

These sites should allow you to make the best decision to answer your question.
Hope you find this info helpful in your home search.

Hi Jeanne and Julie,
Realtors are not able to give opinions on what school system is "best" as it is so subjective. It is against fair housing laws. We can provide you with resources to make your own determination on that such as this link...
http://www.greatschools.org/massachusetts/

You may also want to seek out neighbors in an area you are interested in living in for opinions, visit schools, etc.

You mght start by narrowing your search to towns that appeal to you and then interview the staff at the local school department and schools there.
Good schools help real estate values, too.

Even in good school systems, some choose private schools.
There are a few to choose from in the south shore area.

This is a very broad question, there are so many wonderful schools in the South Shore. It really depends on what you value to be a good system, age of your children, town amenities, private, public, charter...the list goes on.
