River... hmmm....
If you want to live Inside the Perimeter (within 20 minutes of Downtown) you should seriously consider Inman Park, Candler Park, VA Highland, Fourth Ward, Lake Claire --- all of these neighborhoods have easy access to Freedom Pkwy. Well maintained, constantly used, walking/biking paths. No river, but miles upon miles of intown outdoor fun.

Not so sure of some of these answers, as some of the neighborhoods mentioned were either below 500K (for the most part - Wild Timber) or way above 900K (The River Club). Rivermoore Park offers a huge area for walking trails and is not far from the Chattahoochee. Additionally, you might like to drive out to Stonewater Creek, a custom home community within walking distance of Little Mulberry Park, one of the largest parks in Georgia - with fishing, running and equestrian trails.

There's a lot of choices out there, so you'll be able to picky.

Mr Home Buyer,
The Atlanta Country Club offers the finest in Executive Homes in your price range, as well as a great golf course. Just minutes from the river with miles of walking trails. Not to mention the Cobb County School system which is one of the best overall systems in Georgia and great Cobb County property tax rates is an extra bonus. Easy access to GA400, I-285 and I-75, with great shopping areas nearby Cobb and Sandy Springs, Roswell and Alpharetta.

As a fine home specialist, I would be happy to address any issues you might have in your search for a fine home in the Greater Metro are.

It's a great time to buy!!!

North Gwinnett is the best place to find what you are looking for. Wild Timber is an excellent community that backs up to the Chattahooche River and has hiking trails incorporated into the neighborhood this would be my first pick for you based on what you said you were looking for. The next two communities I would consider also include a golf course in the community.

The River Club, and Edinburg would also be excellent choices for you to consider. North Gwinnett and these communites are my specialty. You can visit my website and my blog to get more information on these areas. I recently posted some information on Wild Timber on my blog at be sure to take a look. I would love to work with you to find the right home for you and I think it's located in the areas I mentioned!

Depending on where you are wanting to live in North Atlanta there are a few neighborhoods in your price range that have walking/hiking trails and are either near the river on on the river. I would need to know what area you are thinking about...for example Sandy Springs, Roswell, and Norcross are a few areas that have homes either near or on the river. I am currently looking for houses on the river in the Norcross/Duluth area so I know of a few locations that you might be interested in looking at in the future. Visit one of my websites at or at
and let me know how I can help you get a great property at a great price!

There are several wonderful communities in Roswell that are near the river's walking/biking trails and parks where you can rent canoes and kayaks. Some of them include: Kings Mill, Riverview Estate, Manor at Chattahoocchee Commons, The Park At Roswell, Hawthorne, Grimes Bridge Landing

Though they are not on the river, there are some great neighborhoods that are near some great trails. One of the trails I utilize the most is the Alpharetta Greenway. The trail is a concrete path that is just over 6 miles long that winds along the creekbed of the Big Creek in North Fulton. There are several neighborhoods that have a private connection to the trial or that are within walking distance to the trail. One neighborhood that comes to mind is Kimball Farms. It is a medium sized community that has access to the Greenway, sidewalks and the elementary school is at the front of the neighborhood making it within walking distance as well. I am working with a client right now that will be putting their home in Kiimball Farms on the market in the next couple of weeks after they complete some of the items I requested in order to maximize its marketability.
As a resident of Roswell/Alpharetta I love the convenience to 400, retail and dining options but also appreciate all of the parks and recreational areas found in the area as well. There is a great City of Roswell park that has trails for mountain biking and walking/running that gives you a feel of being away from everyone without the long drive.

Another neighborhood that may be of interest is Neely Farms on the Gwinnett County side of the river in Norcross.

As an expert in North Atlanta homes I would be glad to show you some of the options that would meet all of your requirements for a home in North Atlanta.
