At closing can back tax's be escrowed?

Asked by Paul Sadofsky, Omaha, NE Wed Jan 1, 2014

I have a contract on a house that the tax's have not been paid for 4 years. The seller does not have the money to pay them before closing. There is no mortgage on the house. So can title withhold the amount that needs to be paid so I can have clear title? About a month after the closing date the sellers would lose the home if the tax's are not paid.

YES - The title company typically coordinates that issue.
