Hello - my wife and I are about to buy a house in the area for our US base. We plan to divide our time between the Arizona home and our overseas home. What we'd like to do is offer our place fully or partially furnished for short-term rentals (2-6 months but we're flexible because we can just go anytime) while we are not there.
We are wondering two things 1) where is demand highest for this? and 2) what surprises await for those starting to consider such a plan? We don't need income from the house but we'd like to perhaps offset taxes and maybe keep the house occupied.
We plan to pay cash for the house. We'd like 1) safe area, 2) quiet, 3) non-ostentatious living. Price for this home doesn't matter as much as those factors. If we rent we'd like a good screener to prevent anyone who's caused trouble in any place in the past from renting our place. We're in our mid-40s.
Is this plan feasible? Thanks in advance from J & S.
