Are there additional membership fees at 55 communities with golfcourses?

Asked by Jean, Broward County, FL Sun Mar 10, 2013

We are considering purchasing a home in either Concordia or Whittingham. Are there any additional fees associated with these condos because of the golf courses?
Thanks -

You do not have to join the Golf to live in either community. A portion of your maintenance fee is automatically applied to that because having a golf course increases your property values. If you choose not to join, you just have your monthly HOA fee.

Yes; Golf memberships are always separate. You can join a single membership or family; Each community has a different fee schedule.

No, the association fees at all the Adult Communities are generally within the same ball park, with the only difference being whether or not the association or the homeowner takes care of the maintenance of teh structure....if it is the homeowners' responsibility to repair the roof or siding, for example, the fees may be less. The golf courses all have their own membership and course fees and are generally not a requirement of the individual homeowners to pay additionally in order to maintain the golf course. Communities with a golf course do not generally have higher association fees.
