That's a great question, most people focus on the purchase price but honestly the monthly payment is the more important factor when figuring your budget. Banks use 33-40% of your monthly income after your debts(credit cards, car payments etc.) Your credit score looks close for fha. Talk to a local lender for their pointers on getting pre-approved. There is no charge to speak with a lender. I use Jason Jean at Homestead he has great reviews. ... more

I am sorry to say the tax rate in Holyoke is high. 19.04 per thousand.

Not much you can do to change that.

As to lowering your taxes thru an abatement, that too is not all that easy. You must find comparable homes in similar locations, with similar amenities that there assessment is lower than yours.

Good luck

There are many sites such as, trulia, zillow, and so forth. Also, you could look on craigslist in your desired area! However, using the help of a realtor would be the easiest, as a realtor would have the ability to search MLS and find the best home/apt for you to rent, in addition a realtor would take the stress away from you in searching for a place. I currently work at William Raveis Real Estate, and I focus on rentals. If you are interested in my help, you can contact me at 860.716.1029 or email me at

I'm afraid there is more to in than just knowing income. A mortgage officer at a bank can help you with what you can afford and at the same time prequalify you will be ready to make an offer for the property. You need to know and show that you are bankable when you make an offer. This way you will be ready when you see something you'd like to make an offer on it. Ann ... more

Clearly you are seeking important data regarding Crime & Safety in Holyoke.
Now, I am sure you have read other aggregate website users comment regarding invalid data,,incorrect data, misleading data, expired, and blatant wrong data posted on these sites. Much of the data is not verified and received from other unverified sources.

How then could one have any confidence in the source, origin, relevancy or accuracy of Crime & Safety data? Shopping for important information on an entertainment site is like getting your news from the 'Tonight Show.'

If you are serious, you need serious tools. Visit the websites of agents who provide service for Holyoke and use data resources that have a trace of credibility.
