Mobile homes can be purchased but getting a loan can be a real trouble. You cannot finance them using a conventional mortgage because they depreciate like a car not like a stick built home. Usually you would have to take out a personal loan or use a lender that will keep the loan in house. Your best bet is to go down to a local bank and see if you can qualify for a loan. ... more

I would encourage you to speak directly to a lender. I have been told in the past that it should not make a difference if your income is from SSI or a full time job. I do believe the lender has to verify that the SSI does not have a termination date. With that being said the rules for lending are constantly changing.

When choosing a lender I strongly recommend using a reputable company so that you can have faith that when the lender says you are prequalified to purchase a home, that you truly are able to buy. This is important because you will start the process and paying for home inspections, pest inspection, appraisals, Due Diligence fees and you do not want to start spending money unless your lender has thoroughly reviewed your credit, income(even SSI).

I would be happy to recommend some lenders to you who I trust to take care of home buyers. Please feel free to reach out to me and we can talk.
