You won't go wrong in any price range and in any area of Highlands Ranch! We have been working in Highlands Ranch since 1989. Highlands Ranch is an area where people are trying to be the best they can be, and they seem to be very "kid-centric".

You won't meet a nicer bunch of people than in Highlands Ranch! We tease that if you're not nice, Highlands Ranch won't be for you!

The Rec Centers are all different and are all well-maintained! For example, the Westridge center has in-line hockey, and the Southridge center has a lazy river. For only about $45/month, the whole family has access to all 4 centers. There are constant activities, classes, etc.

Our favorite senior rental complex is Lincoln Meadows. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, and the food is fabulous. The staff is friendly and obviously happy in their work environment. This is strictly rental with no ownership, so there is no hefty deposit as in ownership scenarios. Go for a visit. They will give you a free meal and be happy to show you their facilities!
They have movie nights on Friday and Sat. with current movies on one night and old classics on the other (complete with popcorn)
They serve warm chocolate chip cookies in the afternoons.
There is a well-stocked library and a computer center.
Garages are available for rent, also.

Both areas have excellent schools, so whichever area you can find a rental would be great. Rentals are rather hard to come by, so you have to be ready to make a quick decision. It would be good to have a rental application filled out and ready to submit to your prospective landlord. It is also good to have a personal resume on you and your family to give the landlord a snapshot of your family to add some human interest and to set you apart.

You will be priced out of Highlands Ranch. Most areas of Parker are nice, personally I'd avoid Cottonwood (lived there 4 years) but still there are nice homes too.

It is true property management firms want to see paycheck stubs and they will look at credit history. Individuals, however generally are more receptive. You are, after all, speaking directly to the president of the company when you talk to the owner. Approaching someone who advertises renting their property in or Trulia appears to be the best course.

I have 2 rental houses in Highlands Ranch. Both rent for closer to $1,700- a month.
I"m not inclined to lower the rents as I always get multiple people wanting to rent them. I advertise on Craig's List because that works. However, it's full of scammers and a dangerous place to shop.
(beware of people trying to rent their house that already went into foreclosure)
I've been to 3 local elementary schools and they all seem nice and modern. Douglas County is all good.
