I highly recommend Trinity Christian School in Fairfax, off Braddock Rd. Our son is going to graduate from there this summer.

In general, the schools one attends in Fairfax County are determined by the street address where one lives. This has a considerable effect on prices of residential real estate, since some school districts are more highly sought after by buyers of homes than others.

That being said, there are also public secondary schools in Fairfax County to which admission is by competetive examination, or special interest. By examination, I refer to the Thomas Jefferson High School of Science. There are also special interest programs for art and engineering. See the Fairfax County public school Web site,, for more information.

"Best" can be defined in many ways...In my 25 years as an agent I have seen "best" being defined by...parent teacher ratio, free and reduced lunch, test scores, high diversity, low diversity, and one not statistically determined...School philosophy!

I work Reston and live in Fairfax and from personal experience cannot speak highly enough of Franklin Middle School (Where one of my daughters' attends) but I have my own reasons for how I feel.

Should you need some assistance/guidance/information to help you make a wise decision feel free to contact me.

Kind Regards,

For someone with school age children, residing within walking distance from school may be very desirable, but less so for someone who has no school age children.

The same goes for the metro. Most people probably will appreciate the metro - mostly because it will decrease the congestion during the morning and evening hours, but not all homeowners will necessarily like residing close to the metro.

You need to purchase your HOME in the area that meets YOUR needs - if the area is reasonably nice and your home in a good condition, you'll always find a buyer for your home.

Hi. I don't think that there is a good answer to your question. Children are different, and have talents and abilities that are different. Likewise, parents have differing educational goals and strategies. I put the URL of the Fairfax County public school system below, so you can check out course offerings, test scores, etc., for yourself. This is a great Web site to start looking! ... more

Alternatively, if you are looking to move to a particular school district, you can email me with your criteria (, and I can provide an automated search to provide you with the list of homes in that school district that are available & that fit your criteria. I don't think any of the public web sites allow that level of search capabiltiy. ... more
