Not sure if you're still looking for a home in citrus county or not but I have lived here for nearly 15 years and I love it. The Nature Coast is one of the most beautiful areas I have ever lived in. The climate here is nearly perfect. It can get cold in the wintertime but the next day or two it warms right back up. The sunsets are beautiful and the county has been so careful to preserve the natural beauty all around us. There is the Gulf of Mexico, of course, which offers so much and lakes throughout the county. There are rivers and nature trails and beautiful, preserved historic downtown Inverness. There is so much to see and do here and Citrus County has one of the top rated school systems in the state. There is a highly rated College here and nearby there are 4 year colleges, which includes, of course, the University of Florida and the College of Central Florida. The crime rate is low here and so are the tax rates, which includes our property taxes as well as a low 6% sales tax and of course Florida doesn't have a State income tax. I am prejudiced of course but I believe where I live in Highlands North is one of the most beautiful in the county. There are old beautiful mossy live oaks and wooded areas all around. My neighbor is quiet and peaceful and there are families with small children, as well as, retired couples. After all these years here, our children and grandchildren have moved away and my husband and I decided we are too old to keep driving to see them, so we are selling our home. It is a pretty amazing place and our grandchildren don't want us to sell it because they love it but we need to downsize and move closer to them. I have lived here almost 5 years and will be leaving soon due to my husband's job relocation. We are all very sad to leave as we have come to love Citrus County and call this place home. It is a rural area but has all the conveniences that you could ever want. If you want "big city" then Tampa and Orlando are only an hour away. The culture is a mix of retirees, snowbirds, families, and a mix of backgrounds which makes for interesting neighbors and varying points of view. I live in Citrus Hills and would recommend it above all other areas if you can afford it. Citrus Hills Country Club offers the very finest in club activities, fitness center, pools, restaurants, activity center -- It is great for a retired person or family. I live in Kensington (within Citrus Hills) and LOVE it!! Very sad to leave. Homes go for 180,000 and up; Other areas in the area are nice as well. Good luck ... more

I would say probably about $150,000. It has a pool and good square footage, the age of the house is the deterrent to any higher a number.
