Doorman? In HI? If he/she owns the units or is their realtor, why can't he/she meet me at the unit? Asked if he could meet with a friend of mine on Oahu (I'm in mainland) to show him the unit. Galu Thomas replied quickly & long, suggesting that the unit would be gone if I delayed sending him/her 2 months rent to "book" the unit.

I've been editing text of others for 40 years, and Galu's attempt at written English stunk of that half-ass learned in a former Brit colony. I searched the header data of Galu Thomas' email. Led to a server oft-used by known scammers in UK of African origin (ergo: Kenyans):

They're NOT resident on Oahu, hence they'll turn away locals interested in these phantom units. Rather, they seek to bait non-residents who seek to rent on Oahu. Suspect that realtor "Bills Thomas" is of the same ilk. Photos shown allegedly within these Oahu units look like shots of UK units, probably London.

Rentals in Hawaii Kai range from $1500 (one bedrooms, which are rare) to homes with a boat dock ($4000+ per month). You can take a look on to get an idea of rental prices there. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. I don't handle any rentals but have lived there over 10 years.

The public school for this area is Niu Valley Middle School. There ar no buses, the kids get driven to school, carpool or take the bus (easiest). A bus pass is $30/month. Go to and see the schedules. They also have an app called "DaBus." ... more

There are 2 gas stations within 2 miles (Chevron and Tesoro) and about 9 banks or atms in the same distance (including Bank of Hawaii, American Savings Bank, Central Pacific Bank, Territorial Savings Bank and Hawaii USA Federal Credit Union).

This location is very close to the Koko Marina Center. This Center is full of great shops and dining (including one of my favorite spots for a nice lunch, Kona Brewing Company). If I can be of any more assistance please let me know. If I answered everything you needed please vote for me =)

Typically, longterm rents in Hawaii Kai run around $2000 -2300 for a renovated 2bdrm and $2500- 2800+ for a $3bdrm. If it is a newer Single Family Home with pool and garage you will be looking at over $3000-$4000. Is this your home you are interested in renting out? I can get you more detailed rental rate if you let me know what you have and what you want.
BTW, You can get even more if you furnish it or allow it to be a vacation rental.
Hope that gives you at least a rough indication of the rental market here.
