Hi Matt, buying a home can feel complicated if you don't know where to start. Here are a few steps to get you started.

1) Get pre-approved. Find a lender you want to work with and find out how much home you can afford.

2) Find a Realtor®: Search online for a local Realtor® or talk to your friends and family to see if they can refer someone they trust.

3) Find a home: Your Realtor® can help you choose from an existing home or assist you in having a builder build you a new one.

4) Make an offer: Your Realtor® will help you negotiate the best price for your new home and write up a contract to buy the home.

Absolutely! It is a fabulous loan! That is about 95% of the Clarksville TN / Fort Campbell Ky homes sale market. First typically you will need a minimum 620 credit score, served for more then 120 days active duty or got out with anything other then a dishonorable or other then honorable discharge, Job History and tax returns, verification or rent, 3 months bank statements and that sums up the loan process(I am not a lender). Now the good stuff when you find your home you'll have to make sure that it passes VA requirements. Any knowledgeable agent can help you with that.. Next it has to appraise and then you will be on your way to home ownership. Hope this was helpful. ... more

The Citizens Tribune online will have a rental section. I'd also suggest going to the local restaurants, gas stations, grocery stores in the area and look on the bulletin boards for ads for rentals. You could also make up a flyer that you are looking to rent. Good Luck and enjoy this exciting time of your life! ... more

As a long term investment and as you currently own the land already, my opinion is that it is better for you to build. In owning your own land (which is a key factor) you are qualified to obtain a construction loan to begin building. Also you can custom your home to meet your needs and desires along with quality. ... more
