Juanita, we've lived in Gulfport several short years and intend to live out our lives here. I find it a strongly cohesive community comprised of more generational Floridians than anywhere else I've been in our state. They don't leave for a reason. Our Police and Fire departments are excellent and actually know most of our citizens as the neighbors they are. Walking in Gulfport is a pleasure. Especially on hot evenings. You'll encounter many folk out with their dogs, on bicycles or just on the benches enjoying the bay view. Most everyone greets you with a "good morning.. etc.. " so indeed I would say Gulfport is quite safe and friendly :) ... more
