Hi, Patti! There are sporadic rent with an option to buy properties in the area, but they are high risk contracts which typically put all the risk on the buyer. The reason? If you have a home to sell in the upstate, and it is in good condition, there is no great reason to rent with an option to buy. In 2016, it took me an average of nine days to get a home sold in the upstate. If you were a homeowner, and wanted to sell your home, this is a great time to get your home on the market. If something is wrong with your home, making it difficult to sell, or you refuse to sell for actual market value, you're more likely to look for a consumer who is willing to take on a huge risk out of desperation. Please be careful in seeking out rent-to-own properties. You can really get yourself in a lot of trouble. If you are interested in vetting your options, you can contact me through my profile. I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction.
