Downtown Greenville is becoming more and more popular and following that popularity are higher prices! While it's safe to say that Greenville's growth will continue and prices will continue to rise, it's best to use your own judgement when purchasing a home in an area that you are unsure about! Trends suggest that prices will rise in general in that area, however if the neighborhood is older, less taken care of, etc. there may not be an increase. Touring the area with a licensed agent is the best way to find your best investment. ... more

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods. http://www.neighborhoodscout.com/ https://www.crimereports.com/http://www.homefair.com/ ... more

Kevin, I would say it is still a buyers market. Homes here that are in good condition and priced correctly move rather fast. Also consider that mortgage rates are still at almost all time lows. If you get a chance contact me and we can discuss a strategy -Thanks Michael Vallely ... more

Charlotte Ellison answered:
Debra the taxes on this property are currently based as a non-owner occupied residence and therefore the tax rate is calculated at 6% instead of 4%.. according to the Greenville County Tax Accessors office and several other homes in this same neighborhood are also taxed as non-owner occupied properties, which gives the appearance that the taxes are high for the area. The actual taxes for this area should be around half that amount when checking other owner occupied properties on the same street.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance as you scearch.

Hi

Thanks for the question....as other agents have indicated, we arent able to answer for more than one reason. The best way to address both those issues is to hit the streets. Drive around, and if you feel comfortable there, talk to people in the community, they are usually more than willing to talk about crime...and give you the inside scoop on any annoying neighbors.. :) And as always, you can hit the internet from the safety of your own home and find out lots of information about areas, neighborhoods, and cities.

I appreciate you taking the time to voice your questions...if there are any specific houses that you would be interested in finding our more about, please dont hesitate to contact me.

Hope you have a great weekend,

Rick
