I think it's VERY possible for someone to be successful selling their home themselves. There is a plethora of information on the Internet about FSBO and it certainly isn't rocket science.

Just be informed, be prepared and treat it as a business transaction.

Am I missing something? The house looks gorgeous in the pictures. The only pink and purple I see are with a couple of furnishings that normally would not convey with the property. So if you can look past those little items, I think the house looks great. (I am in no way affiliated with the listing agent or the property.)

Ron is 100% right, Realtors are not allowed by law to designate an area as good or bad. A good agent, like Ron, will tell you that. A bad agent, like many ohers here in Trulia and many other sites, will try to steer you towards the area they prefer to work.

I am currently not an agent and can tell you that Gilbert in general is a very good area. Other very good areas are Chandler and Ahwatukee. Parts or Tempe, Mesa and other valley cities are also good. In generel you want to stay away from most of the west valley and most of south Phoenix.

Ask yourself please what kind of people and culture you want to live around. I am also from LA and have been in Gilbert 3 years. Worse move I ever made and now I'm stuck in my house. The culture here is VERY different from CA. I cannot stress enough that if you come here please rent and see if it's for you. Once you buy you are probably stuck because the market here is horrible. Yes, cheap homes, but nobody wants them so you will own it for the foreseeable future. I'm not trying to scare you, I just think it's a big move and I wish someone had warned me.
