German Village is no different than most other Columbus urban neighborhoods. I've lived here for nearly 10 years and have never experienced any problems. However, it's naive to think incidents don't happen -- they do, generally in the warmer months. Most are of the "broken car window" or "garage broken into" variety, not that serious, mostly just aggravating. (Locals know you have to be "city-smart" and not to leave anything of value on their car seat, that's asking for trouble) Of course, there are home break-ins from time to time, but that's true of anywhere in the city. That's the price one pays for the urban experience. People not comfortable with that are usually happier in communities like Westerville or Upper Arlington. ... more
