Like anywhere else, except the stakes are higher, much higher. There are stuffy, snooty people everywhere, and very nice people everywhere. Prices might be a little higher for food, certainly are for clothing, but you can still find a Sears, Kohls, etc. somewhere in the area. You can go to Cosco too, and you might see your Palm Beach neighbors there because they do know how to save a buck. And how to spend a buck. You do not have to have a diamond necklace to fit in. Want to fit in? Do charity work. That gets big-time attention in Palm Beach. So don't worry about the attitude, atmosphere and fitting in. That is all up to YOU and YOUR ATTITUDE to create YOUR atmosphere. It's a place of beauty, calmness, and goodness. Spend a week there. Stay at the Palm Beach Hotel, 235 Sunrise Ave, Palm Beach, FL 33480
(561) 659-7665 or a motel in West Palm Beach. Walk the streets (Worth Avenue), sit on the beautiful public beach, take the cultural walk, dine at the hotels. Enjoy... and if you are moving there, it's a great lifestyle... I'll be happy to find you a lovely home in the area. Marilyn Jacobs. marilynfjacobs@gmail.com. 561-988-0070

The Town of Palm Beach is truly a beautiful, private and serene place to live in. The island is 11 miles long and about 2 miles wide controlled by 3 spawn bridges that connect the island to the mainland West Palm Beach. The island development was the brainchild of Henry Flager a Railroad Tycoon of the 18th Century who first came down to Palm Beach in 1897 and invisioned a vacation paradise that he could bring people from the east in his railroad

Mr Flager original home is now a museum in the Island called the "Henry Flager Museum" formerly called "Whitehall", and Built the Breakers Hotel a historical Hotel Landmark in the Island. There are no Mc Donalds, Bowling Alleys and even Movie theathers and the Locals prefer it that way.

There is what is called old money, and new money what the islanders refer to families that had it , Rockefellers, Kennedy's et. and the Dot Commers, Industrialist, Music Artist and Foreign Buyers such as the Russian Billionaire that just reportedly bought a $100 million estate owned by Donald Trump.

If you havent visited the Breakers Hotel and strolled is magnificent halls or dined at is famed "Le Escalier" restaurant you dont know what your missing.

Palm Beach is truly beautiful,

Regards,

Juan

Palm Beach the City/Island is very exclusive living where the estates are gorgeous, you're near the water...you have Worth Avenue Shopping and are surrounded by beauty and Wealth.

If you are asking about the County, there are really 4 distinct areas - Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Jupiter and Boynton Beach which is growing quickly between Boca and West Palm.

Each has its positives and negatives.

You need to know what suits you best. For instance, you could get a house on the Intracoastal and have an "old Florida" feel... you could get a Condo in a golf community for the country club life... you could get a nice house in a gated community for a suburban feel... you could get a villa in a 55+ community where everything from the lawn to the lightbulbs are maintained for you - including the social activities in the club... you could get a condo/townhouse in a mixed use area where there is dining, shopping and nightlife all within walking distance!

It is really up to you.

As a whole, Palm Beach County is very laid back. We have Tropical weather - warm and sunny year round and hot in the summer. We aren't too picky about dress - most people have 3-4 pairs of sandals. There are great cultural events, beaches, parks and malls. It is really up to you!

Palm Beach is in many ways a small town. It's geography, and the fact that it is accessible by bridges over the intracoastal waterway, give it a mystic. It's beauty, high end hotels, restaurants and shops, of course attract those who can afford the best. That said, there are families who have lived on "the Island" for generations whose names would not generate a second glance but are well known by their neighbors. It is family friendly and there is a public school in town. This time of the year, like most of South Florida, Palm Beach is a little quieter. But it is a great time to enjoy the weather, and the beaches and to roller blade or walk or bike ride. There are many facets to Palm Beach come visit and see if one of them suits you.
