What is the crime rate. Is it people friendly. What is this subburb like. Is it a great place to raise a family. Is it diverse and has a lot of different cultures like the city of chicago. I'll be moving there in a month and would like a feel of the area and things before I move into my new home.

Hi Corressa,

Niles has a lot to offer and is close to many things. Here is a link for you to check on some of the information you are looking for. Different aspects of the website have been updated more recently than others, but it gives you a good overview.

Also, here is a link to the village website.

Enjoy your new home!

Have you bought a place yet? I think Oak Park has a lot to offer especially: raise a family and diverse cultures. Oak Park has some of the best schools in the area. You might want to check out:
The previous post has crime info.

As for diversity, Oak Park and Evanston have gone out of their way to promote diversity. They even have
Village Diversity Statement proclamation reads in part, "The people of Oak Park choose this community, not just as a place to live, but as a way of life ... Ours is a dynamic community that encourages the contributions of all citizens, regardless of race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, religion, economic status, political affiliation or any of the other distinguishing characteristics that all too often divide people in society."
