how do you request to purchase city owned property?

Asked by Jill, 10465 Fri May 21, 2010

the lot is attached to a home that we own but it is a partial underwater lot, I know it can't be built on just curious for better property lot sq footage and better resale value also if it is private property it would be safer as well. Thanks for your time.

Hi Jill,

I would check with the Department of Finance. Here is the citywide link:

Most excess city owned property is auctioned periodically, however you can simply inquire with city hall or even better put together an offer and include an appraisal of what the lot is worth. Ask the city to consider selling it. Good luck with your purchase, i hope things work out

If it is not listed for sale then I would recommend contacting town hall and inquiring about it.

Check the Dept of Finance website or contact a title company that could potentially locate the current owner and provide some more detailed information for you. Good Luck.
