There are not a ton of "cities". 2/3rds of the Houston areas population live in unincorporated Harris County with no city boundaries.

That being said, there are cities and "areas" that us Realtors refer to.
West includes Katy, the Memorial Villages including Bunker Hill, Spring Valley, Hunters Creek, Hedwig Village and Piney Point.
Northwest areas include Cypress, "Cy-Fair", Tomball, Magnolia, "Champions", Jersey Village and "Klein".
North Houston includes The Woodlands, Spring.
Northeast areas feature "Kingwood", Humble, "Lake Houston", "Atascocicta".
Southwest region includes Sugar Land, Missouri City, Stafford, "First Colony", Richmond
South and Southeast area include Pearland, Friendswood, "Clear Lake", Seabrook, League City
Inner Cities within Houston, but not in the city limits of Houston include Bellaire and West University

Many buyers will also look by zip codes or Key Map pages. Our local MLS has started using a new type of map that is subdivided into areas that references these "names" that are not part of a city.

Always best to use a local Realtor that knows that lay of the land, the terms locals use and best guide buyers to area they are asking for by description, but not by name!

Hi Debra and Ramonica. Even though we are not looking to buy in the area, we really appreciate your feedback. We ask these questions in order to direct first time home buyers or non-Houston natives who just enter their questions straight into Google, and thereby leading them here, making your answers the first that they will see. Thank you again for your answers!
