Where is the best place to rent in SC, close to beaches and not too expensive?

Asked by Susan Oneill, Bradenton, FL Wed Feb 6, 2008

My husband and I want to relocate to SC and preferably be close to the ocean since we are leaving FL after finding it very costly to live here. We love the weather here (Bradenton - SW FL) and hate to leave but need to find a little more economical cost of living. I have searched Charleston, Summerville and others in that area and am just wondering what would be a good area to rent. Would like 3 BR - $700 - $800.

I think you should check out Georgetown County. It is about 1 hour North of Charleston and is very affordable. Georgetown is a cute historic town but further North is Pawley's Island and the Litchfield Beach area. There are lots of golf courses and great beaches. If you get up there you should check out my good friend: Chris Grey, with LItchfield Real Estate.

Hi Susan,

Hilton Head Island and Bluffton is a very nice place to live - if you haven't explored the area, please come check it out - I would be glad to give you maps, listings, etc...

The prices here are more than your target rental price - You need to plan to spend at least $1000 or more per month for a 3 bedroom property in this area.
