Usually the news paper is a good place to find open houses. Or you could call differnt real estate companies and find out what agents are listing open houses.

Irena,

Be careful with Openhouse.com. They only list open houses from 4 major corporate real estate companies. Add'l brokers are welcome to "buy-in" their website, but for now it is only limited to the 4 who have purchased their product; therefore, it is not a comprehensive listing of available open houses.

Hope this helps.

Specifically open houses? I check the Sunday newspaper (The Washington Post) and Craigslist). I'm a Realtor, so I also check the MRIS, but the Post and Craigslist give me all I need for what I'm looking for. I drive neighborhoods all the time to get the feel for them, to look for properties whose owners may be distressed, to talk to neighbors who know what's going on. Getting out there "on the ground" is absolutely necessary. And sometimes on Sunday I'll drive certain neighborhoods just to make sure I didn't miss anything in the Post or on Craigslist.

In Minneapolis/St. Paul, some brokerages are still doing the paper, but the most complete list would be on the large brokerages websites. My website also lists all of them!
