Hi! Since your daughter is 4, I would imagine you want to ground yourself in an area with good schools. Here is what I know based on the areas you are interested in:

Ramsey was rated 30 out of 321 schools in NJ. Parsippany 86, Parsippany Hills 23.

Wouldn't you consider staying in the area you are in currently?

Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes was rated 17. Glen Rock was rated 4!!!

Wyckoff or Glen Rock have awesome schools and you can find under $500k. Ridgewood as well.

Let me know if I can help.

They are both good towns with goods schools. One of the big questions is your commute. Where will you be working? Ramsey is closer to the city, as you know. Parsippy has good public transportation, but it is further west. Parsippany is a much bigger town

But you have a budget. I believe you will get more for your money in Parsippany.

It can be helpful in deciding.

Parsippany is in the Garden State MLS
Ramsey is in the New Jersey MLS

We are members of both, so we can help you, either way!

That would be an answer of personal taste and liking. While real estate professionals are not allowed to "steer" anyone to a specific area, you may want to visit both cities, talk with the neighbors and residents, and tour the neighborhoods to get some accurate information about those two cities.

Think about what exactly is important to you when considering a town to relocate to.
If its the school systems then you can visit http://www.greatschools.com or http://www.schooldigger.com
If its about the overall area and safety then you can visit http://www.city-data.com

No one can tell you what town is "better". as that is a subjective word........and there are residents in each town who will tell you their town is the "best" !

I suggest you look at homes in both towns and see if your budget will offer you the kind of home you want.
You can also make use of the various links that offer town information, along with school information.

Please feel free to visit my website where i have provided a number of helpful links that can help answer some of the questions you might have!

All the best.
