What are the best rental areas in Jersey City?

Asked by JJ, New York, NY Tue May 26, 2009

My boyfriend and I currently live in midtown Manhattan and are paying $3200/month for a 600sqft apartment with a 23x15ft private terrace. We are considering Jersey City because it is substantially cheaper and we were hoping to get something with a water view and outside space for around $2000/month. Neither of us know much about Jersey City, so we want to do a little bit of research before we dive into this. We need to be out of our apartment by July 15th. We have an English Bulldog, so we need a pet friendly building. We prefer something luxury, with a washer/dryer, etc. Are there some areas that are nicer than others? We both work in Midtown, so the 33rd Street PATH station works for us. Thanks for your help!

Julie,

Many New Yorkers are moving to Jersey City, You won't be alone. The downtown Jersey City areas of Newport, Exchange Place and Grove St. are going to give you the kind of buildings it sounds like you desire. Here are a few links to several great rental buildings.

Jersey City Rentals are like shooting fish in a bucket.. You should easily be able to get a great rental .. and I would venture to say that you could proably buy a short sale for $2000 per month..

it is investment time in Jersey City.. why rent when you could probably own?

Email or call - I can show you what is available.
