It will depend on the price range you are comfortable in, the style of home you like, what age of home you want and 20 mins from where exactly, downtown? WIth a little more info it will easier to provide more helpful info.

The Spokane housing inventory is not homogeneous, it has instead developed in "clumps" so the answers to the above q's will determine the areas. This may be a little tricky to discuss hypothetically but I am game to try

I'm retired. I'm looking for a very nice ranch house for sale in the Spokane, Wa. area. It must be ten minutes driving distance from the hospitals, and shopping. I'm willing to pay between $115,000. and
$175,000. I want a fenced in back yard. It must have central air, ( NO base board heaters) a/c,
a washer and dryer hook up, a dishwasher, lots of light, 2 bedrooms, 1+bathroom. White kitchen cabinets, and pet friendly.

Using a database search I can search on all your criteria except "lots of light" and white kitchen cabinets". In the price range you have given I can see 41 homes matching those other requirements within 10-15 mins of Holy Family Hospital so it will depend which hospital you wish to be close to. Also the price range you have chosen will give very differing sizes and condition of homes with very few if any choices that are 2000+ or newer for the age of home if that is a concern. I can send these homes over to you if that would be helpful

The south hill is the nicest area that spokane has to offer. Homes are old, small and overpriced but beautiful. Our freeway is in terrible shape and it is going to be a disaster if they close it to do repairs. Liberty lake is very nice but a long commute to downtown. You can't always get from the Y (main north south route where 395 and 2 split) to downtown in under 30 min. There are very nice places north of the Y and there is going to be a north south freeway that should be completed by 2050 (not kidding)

Latah Valley off 395 south is very nice if you like suburbia and is within 20 min from downtown.

Congratulations on selecting the Spokane area for employment. One thing about Idaho that you should consider is less taxes. Gas runs $.40 to $.50 less than in Spokane. Prices have come down in the Coer d'Alene area in the last 6 months, thus like every where else it is a Buyers market. There is a great agent that works both the Spokane and Coeur d'Alene area that would be more than happy to work with you. Her name is Brooke Adams. Her email address is brookeadams@windermere.com. Good Luck.

Hi Casey, It really depends on the price range you are looking in and what you are looking for in a home to determine what area and neighborhood would be a good fit for you. Also, are you open to or wanting rural property, or maybe you have kids and want to get into a nice development where their will be other kids and parks or pools to play in? Spokane has lots of great areas just depends on your families particular wants and needs in a home and area. A good resource for looking into more information on Spokane is http://www.spokane.com. I would also be more than happy to set you up on a personalized home search that will send you any homes meeting your criteria and my services are always 100% free to you as a buyer. It's hard to directly answer your question without first getting more specifics from you. It would be my pleasure to take you on a informative full tour of Spokane's different areas when you are in town. A link to my website is provided below with all my contact info and to learn more about me if you wish. Spokane's is truly a fantastic place to live! Best wishes and take care. Hi Casey,
What types of homes do you prefer? Older? New? There are so many nice neighborhoods here. It depends on your priorities and taste. I can set you up on an internet search that will e-mail you brand new listings if you like. It's kind of like window shopping, and keeps you informed of the market here. If you are interested, just e-mail me at bethann@tb.com and I can explain more about the area. I can also send you a relocation package by mail if you like. Tell me more about what you hope for in a neighborhood and I can be specific about areas, ect.
