It is great to hear that you just got a new job at Fawcett in Venice. Yes, Venice has many wonderful places for rent as well as to build or buy, however, it is a 30 to 45 minute commute to Fawcett from that location depending on the traffice. It is a personal choice on which ever location you should choose. Personally, I would chose an area closer to work. Some of the areas that I would consider first would be, Port Charlotte of course, Deep Creek, Punta Gorda, North Port, Bobcat Trail and others in an area closer to work especally with the price of gas now. But as I said to start with this is a highly personal choice and these are only my ideas. I will be more than happy to help you get settled in any area that you would lile, just contact me.

Congratulations on your new Job at fawcett Hospital. I have lived in the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area for 30 years and really like this area. And if I may suggest after putting in a full day working and the possiblility of being on call at the hospital, perhaps a shorter commute would be best.

South Venice is definitely a nice area and I would say It really depends on you if you would want to dedicate about a 35-40 minute commute each way when you are scheduled to work.

My sister is a RN at Charlotte Regional Hospital and she lives in a community called Deep Creek and it is about 10 minutes from her hospital in Punta Gorda to her home. I also have two neices that are RN'S at Fawcett and they also live with in 5 minutes from Fawcett Hospital. They have expressed to me several times that after working long day shifts and then some night shift that they are happy to be so close.

My husband is a builder and he just designed and built us a new home in the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area as we love it here.

If you have any questions or would like to speak with me further I would be happy to answer any of your questions as I know all the areas well.

Billy Ray Easley, Realtor with Coldwell Banker Sunstar Realty,

I would consider South Venice an excellent place to rent, build or buy, however this is an objective answer and when considering real estate each individual needs to make their own decisions. It would be about a half hour drive to Fawcett from South Venice. If it were me, I would consider North Port, Port Charlotte or Punta Gorda. If I can be of assistance, please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Sincerely,

That is a pretty good trip every day from Venice to Fawcett. While the traffic is not terrible it can be a bit hectic in the winter months with the snowbirds. That trip is an easy 1/2 hour.

As far as other suggestions. I would check out PGI (Punta Gorda Isles) it is beautiful, lots to do, great community and old Florida feel. It is minutes to your new job.

Here is a link with a lot of pictures and info on PGI. There are also links from there on many surrounding communities in the Charlotte Harbor Area you may be interested in.

It would take you about 30 minutes from South Venice to Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte going 41/Tamiami Trail. Traffic can be heavy on 41 during snowbird season and may take longer during the winter months. Some people commute much further than that. Your location for living would be determined by your wants and needs for living as well as affordability within your budget. There are plenty of lots at low prices right now. Would you be looking to build in a deed restricted community with homeowner association fees or to build in a non-deed restricted area. You can search the MLS for rental properties http://myfloridahomesmls.com/. It is a good idea to rent first until you get to know the area and neighborhoods. Then you will have a better feel for where you want to live.

Congrats and Good luck with the new job! You may want to consider other rental options closer to work. South Venice is about 25 miles to Fawcett. Thinking of building in the future? Excellent! You will end up with the home and layout you want in an area of your choice and a home up to current codes. Plenty of advantages to building and land prices are LOW. Hope this helps
