Both Jose and Judy are absolutely right. As Judy said, because east Fort Lauderdale is so sought after, there is very little vacant land and therefore most of the established homes tend to have been built in the 60s and 70s. However, the wonderful thing about this is the there are so very many properties that have been completely renovated and upgraded, that the moment you step inside, you would never know you're in an older home. This is why I love selling on the east side so much. You have the benefit of the charm of the older properties coupled with all the advantages of renovated kitchens, bathrooms, floors, windows etc. etc., depending on the property.
If you want a condo or townhouse, then you'll be able to find new construction but you'll find the townhomes will have been built in small pockets of what was vacant land, As Jose said, there are many 3 story townhomes.
Feel free to contact me if you would like more information - I'd be delighted to work with you. You've certainly made a great decision about location and timing, that's for sure!
Best regards and best of luck.
