Hello DJ,

Just as with any town it may have more or less what you are looking for. Raritan is a great commuter town I lived in Neighboring Bridgewateer for sometime, and as mentioned schools are outstanding. It has a great mainstreet and access to just about everything you need large malls in area great parks all the advantages of a small town but with everything within a 10 minute drive.

Best thing about raritan is you don't need to drive, Mainstreet has it all. + walk to the train They are strong in tradition with Parades saluting a local hero. Everyone is different in their needs and if taxes is what has you worried maybe the cost can be offset by the easier access " walk " to the train as compared to buying a parking pass which can be expensive anywhere.

If you like to talk about the area feel free to contact me my office is right down the road from there

Are you asking about Raritan Borough (Somerset Cty), or Raritan Township (Hunterdon cty) ? One advantage of Raritan Boro is that the prices are better than Bridgewater Township, but they share the same very highly-rated school system. There is a really cute old-fashioned downtown and many places where you could live so close to downtown shops and restaurants (and the train station) that you would not have to use a car all the time. Train commute to NYC is about an hour and a half.

Raritan Township is further from NYC, encompassing the town of Flemington. Also very charming, with a great school system, but rather high taxes. I won't go into it further until you let me know which one you were originally asking about.

Raritan Boro - my partner and I have an ADORABLE and affordable brick townhouse on our website, very convenient location for a commuter, that you might be interested in seeing. You can see it on our website.

Good luck to you and please contact me if I can be of any assistance.

I am a Realtor that lives in Bradley Gardens next to Raritan,it is a great commute to the NYC area by train. The school system is the bridgewater schools which are very good. I like the town its very convenient to the shopping, highways, schools. The average single family home is around $325,000 in this economy. The crime rate is low. If you would like me to send you some property listings please e-mail,or if you have other questions give me a call.

Thanks all for your valuable inputs. I was interested in Raritan Boro in Somerset county. I was looking at a copupleof houses in the Raritan area and lookslike a low crime area. But the taxes seem a bithigher than in Middlesex county (I live in middlsex county now). Is it copmmon in somerset tohave high taxes. Forexample 2 of the houses I saw have property taxes in the range of $7K+ where as in Middlesex the same house would be only at $4K-5K in taxes.

Raritan in Somerset County is a nice older comunity. It is convenient to communiting to NYC. There is a train station in town as well as others near by. It is less expensive than Bridewater. If you are interested in the area, I am a realtor in S0omerset County and would be more than willing to help you out. You can contact me at

Hi Dj,
Raritan and Bridgewater are just a bit too far for any of our buyer agents to cover. We do service Matawan, Hazlet, Aberdeen, Cliffwood, Keyport which are too far from the towns you mentioned. Many NYC commuters live in the towns I mentioned. If you have any consideration of looking south in lieu of west, we would be glad to provide information.

Perhaps an agent from Raritan or Bridgewater will chime in and be able to respond about those areas.
