Hi Rose Marie
Checking the Fema sites is a great start but I would also check with the municipal records as well.

You can go to the town municipal offices they have all the properties coded for flood zones. Remember even though a property may be classified in flood zones does not necessarily mean it floods. I live in a flood zone on the water but I have never had a flood and this house has never flooded since it was built. You need to research the property. Look at sellers disclosure on the property for any history of water damage. Inspect a property carefully before buying.

First I would start with the town's municipal building to find out whatever you can about flooding then work from there.

good luck
