Help finding child care in Walnut Creek?

Asked by Katie Daire, Piedmont Pines, Oakland, CA Wed Jun 13, 2012

We just moved to Walnut Creek and need to find child care for our son when he turns 6 months later this summer. We're open to considering traditional day care, in-home day cares, and nanny shares. Any suggestions of where to look, or recommendations of great places? Thanks!

Hello Katie. When I needed child care and didn't know who to use because I was new, I used the Contra Costa Child Care Council - - for licensed care providers in my neighborhood. I interviewed everyone with my kids in hand to see how they responded to the surroundings. Good luck! Any other questions or help, feel free to call me at 925.385.8783. Thanks!

I would say one of the best ways is word of mouth, and to that end, have you considered joining a local mothers club? There area couple of really good ones. I was one of the early members of the Pleasant Hill/Walnut Creek Mothers club: and the Mt. Diablo Mothers Club:

There are some great ones around, but by networking with other moms and asking questions, even joining up w/ a playgroup and babysitting coop group, you'll meet lots of other moms in the same situations.

Good luck!

I'm interested to see what you find. We have been picky in choosing our daycare options and I know that not many people would hold businesses to the kinds of standards that we do. That being said, I'm sure there are some places around here that will work for us. The worst requirement we have is the hours we need. It's tough for places to comply with those.

My wife and I both work and we need a good place that we can trust to care for our kids. We have been placing our kids in the care of a great childcare facility for a while now. We couldn't be happier with the place.

Hi Katie, I am a mom of a baby in Walnut Creek looking to be an in-home care taker; ideally of one child that is close in age to my own; and starting this summer or fall. I have lots of experience taking care of two little ones at the same time that are close in age. I live about 1/2 mile east of Nordstrom's in downtown Walnut Creek. We live on a very safe family friendly street, with 1/2 an acre of land, and a baby safe environment. Let me know if you are interested! 925-872-3431. Best wishes on your move to Walnut Creek, Cheri
