Can you describe how Larkspur looks and feels for a person that has never lived here?

Do residents maintain their homes and lawns? Are there dramatic differences between different neighborhoods or zip codes? Is there a dominant architecture throughout the city?

What an interesting town Larkspur is! One of the most beautiful little downtowns in Marin County, Larkspur is a combination of beautifully restored old homes alongside old homes waiting to be restored, alongside homes from the 40's and a few modern gems here and there. Like Mill Valley, Larkspur is one of the older towns in the county and one of the best places to live. People take great pride in the homes, and it keeps getting better. Trees are mature and lush, and the town feels like a big garden dotted with homes.

Larkspur is eclectic and changing. Many of the smaller older homes are being remodelled and enhanced or torn down and rebuilt for functionality of today. Larkspur's planning department is careful to maintain house size comensurate with lot size and maintaing the charm and aesthetics that make it so desirable..
