Building a townhouse in Manayunk

Asked by Tom Williams, Roxborough, Philadelphia, PA Tue Mar 29, 2011

I'm interested in building a townhome in Manayunk. My thought was to build two, live in one and sell off the other to partially fund the construction costs. Obviously I need a lot to build on first, but before I look I have a few questions:

1. I would like to build modern style townhomes with rooftop decks so lots with views would be nice, but not an absolute. I know sheldon street, terrace, etc. have good views, do you recommend any other streets.

2. Secondly, what areas of Manayunk are "good" areas. In other words desirable locations.

Any help is appreciated,

Hey Tom.

As the other professionals mentioned, there are not many lots left and your best bet is to rehab at this time.

Without talking further, its hard to pinpoint your needs for a desirable area.

Hi Tom, I am a current resident of Manayunk and also a mortgage professional. There is very little space left to buy land. BUT, there are a few homes in excellent areas ready to be knocked down and rebuilt, there are great tax benefits to doing this. I do actually have one in mind for you, blocks from main st. and great area. Shoot me an email and I would love to discuss this with you. Anything to help restore Philly!

Tom. There are very few lots available. Have you looked at del mar st? I have a client with some lots there if you are interested. Another nice area is on cathedral.
