Berkley Michigan-On the rise, no change, decline?

Asked by Jeph, Michigan Mon Feb 23, 2009

My wife and I are considering settling in Berkley, MI. We like the community and the school district is good too. The downtown has gone through and continue to be developed with new businesses opening up. Does anyone have a rough estimate of what kind of trend in housing prices will Berkley expierence in the next five years? I know it is a crap shoot to predict housing prices especially in these tough economic times. Basically, in your opinion, is Berkley on the rise, no change or on the decline in regards to housing prices and popularity?

Trulia provides general information that you can monitor. http://www.trulia.com/real_estate/Berkley-Michigan/

Much of this will depend upon the nations recovery from resession and jobs for the area.

Jeph,

Berkley is a great community. I have a really nice home listed at http://811harvard.mibirmingham.com that you can check out.

We have a couple of friends/clients who are merchants in downtown Berkley. It has been fun to watch the new businesses go in there.

I don't think anyone can predict what will happen to Berkley prices 5 years form now, but I certainly wish we could. Lots will be determined by the auto makers and how they fair the next few years. Our whole metro Detroit area is influenced by them.

When Detroit creates jobs, housing values will rise.

If you need any help with your home search, I would certainly be delighted to have the opportunity to sit down and talk to you about buying and Berkley.
