Charlie answered this well. The purpose of 55+ communities is to allow active adults the enjoyment of their surroundings w/o the distractions of other people's children. It is presumed that people in this age bracket are beyond the life phase of raising children and now want to enjoy their social & recreational pursuits. In many, no one under 19 is allowed to live in the community, regardless of city.

Short term visits shouldn't be a problem. You're defeating the purpose of the 55 community if you are looking to have children all the time. Here's a link to St. Augustine 55 commniities, scroll down to see them: http://www.retirenet.com/location/communities/36-florida/53-… Contact them to find out.

All the best

Not clear on what you mean...do they allow short term visits by children? Or are children allowed to live there full time?
