When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Plantation Trail is a very safe neighborhood. We have been here since Sept of last year. My husband is an officer and there are two others on our street (off of Plantation). There is one behind us and 4 or 5 others that I know of in this neighborhood. Very safe! ... more

Good morning, Brooke.
Safety is a relative thing. The level of crime that would be "too much" for people who have grown up in the country without a lot of neighbors would be different than someone moving from NYC or LA. The best thing to do is to call police non-emergency line, give them the address of the place you are considering and ask to speak with the officer who regularly patrols that area. Then ask them about the number and types of crime. If you look at online crime statistics (see link) and see a high number of crimes, make sure they are not just barking dogs, loud music and domestic disputes. The second thing you can to is to drive the area at various times of the day and evening/night. Talk to neighbors and see what they think of the area. If you have a full time agent with a Masters degree in Planning with Finance and over two decades of experience, working for you, you will likely do better in negotiations. I'd be pleased to provide that service. ... if you appreciate this answer, please give it a "thumbs up", or if this was the most helpful answer, please say thanks with a "best answer" click . ... more

Hi Maggie,
I suggest that you contact the local police department there to determine the answer to your question. It's best to go right to the source; the police.

Good luck!

As a professional realty I cannot comment specifically about a particular area. However, I can refer you to resources that may be helpful. Gaston County, where Old Course is located, does provide a map of crime statistics which might be helpful.

I specialize in this area. In fact, I live in Cramer Mountain, a subdivision just across Cramer Mountain Road, and I am also a friend of one of the builders who has built homes in that subdivision. Contact me through my website: www.foxhomescharlotte.com and I'll be glad to assist you.
