Jackson Willis answered:
I think most people breaking into a house are going to be more interested in being undetected. Generally they will try to find an unlocked/open window or door, or they'll try to pick a lock if they know how to. I've never heard of anyone just busting down a door, as this would likely get the cops called a lot more quickly. If you're worried about this though, you might want to look into adding some extra security measures. I would definitely suggest having a basic alarm system, and a camera if you're concerned about home invasion. You might want to get even more than that though. Talk to the company you buy from to see what they offer.

When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local authorities with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Lorin, Home Buyer in Atlanta, GA

Lorin answered:
Hello!

I would just like to provide a recent update on this area for any future home buyers/renters. I recently moved into this area (within the past 6 months) and have found it to be an excellent area to live in! The major con is the noise from the trains going by, but if you can find a good unit that is not close to the tracks (i.e. across from 16th St/17th St) you will be very happy!

The are has a very mixed community, between students and professionals. I have found my neighbors to be respect, and have never felt unsafe running/walking in the area. Being close to Atlantic Station is a huge plus! You can walk to get groceries and shop at Target, or any of the other stores in the area. Overall, I have been an extremely satisfied renter in the Atlantic Station area and am strongly considering buying a condo in this area!

Happy house hunting!

Couldn't find 169 Pennwood on the map. Are you talking about Atlanta, GA near the Edgewood Retail Shops or off of Edgewood ave? Near Edgewood Avenue is relatively safe. Lots of shops and restaurants. Near Edgewood Retail is questionable, there have been a few shootings int eh past few months but the neighbors have really banned together to make the neighborhood safer. ... more

J answered:
I'm not certain what information you would like but here's some:

The house is in the very desirable Lake At Cooper Sandy community. It is currently listed as a short sale. The home is districted to the Summit Hill Elementary, Northwestern Middle and Milton High Schools despite what Trulia posted. I'm quite familiar with the area as I live around the corner from the home and schools as my daughter babysits for a close friend that lives in that subdivision.

Please contact me and I'll answer any questions you have.
