There are some that will work with people that have credit issues. Everyone's financial issues are different so they are generally looked at on a case by case basis. Landlords may want additional deposit money but something can usually be worked out. There are also some lease purchase options available if that is the route that you decide is best for you... You qualify with the program; pick a property in one of their approved communities; decide if you want them to renovate the kitchen and bathrooms and add that to the price of the property, you lease the property for up to three years and have the option to buy at a predetermined price at the end of each year.

If you haven't already chosen an agent to work with, I would be more than happy to set up an MLS Search for you with the most accurate information on homes. You can save your favorites and get notices when new homes come on the market. Since you do not plan to move for a few months this will allow you to get idea of what each area has to offer for homes, prices, age, size, etc.

Plano and Frisco both have a lot of beautiful homes to choose from. Also, Allen is a close up and coming area with lots of new restaurants and shopping that you may want to consider.
