I believe it's a personal preference. As in everything, there are positive and negative to each option, Forced air can be considered "less clean" or more work as you need to change the filters. Many people with allergies tend to stay away from forced are systems, but the upside is Central Air. If the house does not have it, it's much easier to put it in as you can use the same air ducts. Bottom line, it''s most of the time not a factor in the decision making process. Fuel preference is also just that, preference. Yes, many people don't want electric, but with huge oil prices and education that electric is zoned so you can shut off areas of your home, Electric homes are no longer the taboo they used to be. Gas is preferred by cooks but some are concerned about the dangers of the home exploding. This also need to be addressed by consumer education. Well, I can go on, but you get the picture. ... more

Hello,

I would definitely check with the town and Ron is correct about the septic. You want to make sure to cover all your bases. I assume that they will allow it depending on the neighbors and they will probably hold a meeting to see if anyone opposes the addition. We live in Franklin and put a master bedroom over our garage back in 2007.

Hope this helps, feel free to contact me with any follow up questions,
Amber

If you are considering purchasing a home with a well, make sure you have a complete water test done. It is a few hundred dollars but it is worth the money. Make sure the water pressure is acceptable as well. Wells tend to have less water pressure then water delivered by a municipality. ... more

One more thing. Several home owners and agents have become aware that open houses can be dangerous. There have been some horror stories of agents being attacked, robbed etc.

I think that I answered this question once before on trulia. I have lived in Franklin for the last 19 years. I raised my kids here and they attended the Franklin public schools. It is an awesome town to live in and raise your family. Crime is very low. It is a nice little college town.It is near 495 and and you can easily take a train into boston. The people are very friendly, and the schools are excellent. Our tax rate is pretty good , considering other towns. You can walk almost anywhere in Franklin. Franklin has the first established public library in the country. It was also voted by Family Circle magazine, as the 10th most kid friendly town in the country. I have never regretted living or working in Franklin. Contact me if I can be of help. ... more
