hutchinson island is still pretty good. it can get a little iffy by the jetty at night with some shady people hanging out there but theyve been trying to improve that area lately. i would say the island is one of the more safer areas since it still costs more to live there, but anything on the other side of the tracks your looking for trouble. there are still some decent patches of low crime here and there, i say if anyones looking at a particular house in ft pierce to ask about that particular neighborhood on here because it can vary like night and day ... more

that area isnt the best area no, its unfortunate because there are beautiful houses around there and it once was nice, but the "bad areas" are kind of spreading into the once good areas, and this is one of them. if you dont plan to take walks past 7pm or have kids it might be fine though ... more

My wife and I grew up in Fort Pierce, we saw the crime and corruption of that era nearly rip the place apart. Fort Pierce has been an example of what crime and corruption can do to a city, and as a result it has earned a bad reputation that it will hinder its growth and progress for decades to come. Fort Pierce has also been an example of how a city can turn itself around and come back if it wants to. We moved away for several years and have recently returned to the area and Fort Pierce has improved vastly. Fort pierce is still less than perfect, but no place is (perfect). Many people will tout that this place or that place is better, I've been everywhere around her, the truth is they all have little room to talk, even back in the day when it was trying to tear itself apart Fort Pierce was pretty much the same as anywhere else, you're going to have some areas where there seems to be a lot of crime and other areas where there seems to be almost no crime. The best thing to do is call the Fort Pierce city police and/or the Saint Lucie County Sheriff's Department.

When you're looking at websites about crime and statistics make sure they're current and pay close attention to what you're actually looking at. Things like traffic stops and calls on barking dogs are reported as crimes, after all, speeding and disturbing the peace are crimes. A barking dog and a couple speeding tickets in close proximity can look like a crime wave on "Crime Heat Wave Maps" if you're not looking closely.

Depending upon jurisdiction, either the City of Fort Pierce Police Department, or St. Lucie County Sheriff's Department are the two locations to obtain crime statistics in Fort Pierce. The following websites may be of assistance in your quest.
