why is the county record not showing right ownership record for this REO ?

Asked by Homebuyer2009, 20166 Wed Dec 31, 2008

This property is a foreclosure in fairfax county. Its bank owned. But when I search it in the county property tax record it shows no transaction being recorded when it got repocessed by bank. From what I heard owner has passed away. County record still shows this owner as current owner but the mailing address has changed to bank address. Listing agent has no clue. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

It can take 30 days or more for the records to be officially updated. It isn't really a big deal as if you were looking to buy the property your sales contract would list the seller as "owner of record".

County records are not automated. It takes them a while to update completely. Bank might not have recorded as owner and chose to wait till it resells.
Let me know if you need further explanation

Do you have an address for the property? With an address, I can look into it.
