open foreclosure case from early last year listed. Does this mean that the house is going to be foreclosed? The case is from 8 months ago, but no disposition has been entered on the court records. Would it be safe to rent this house?

Hello Diane, I agree with the other Angela - this is a risky proposition at best. Good for you that you are doing your due diligence, otherwise you would be renting only to find out later that the house is being foreclosed on. There are so many rentals available now, you shouldn't have any problem finding something else. That is not to say that some may be border line, but you seem to be on top of the situation. Good Luck - hope you find something soon.

Diane: If the case is still open, the property is still at risk. It tells me that the bank is just taking their time, possibly trying to work something out with the owners but the fact remains it is at risk.

My advice to you would be to contact the listing agent, or the landlord and ask them directly - they have to be honest with you.

Hope this helps, best of luck.
