Kim, Rob, Kevin + Bop:

Thank you for your solid answers- I have re-opened and re-ignited my business: WaterwayRealty.com Realtors aka Waterway Realty, REALTORS.

Due to persoanal relationship matters and poor judgment and being too trusting- I am now homeless and have limited access to the Internet.

My firm was under hostile take-over for the past 5 years. I will recover and come back bigger, better, stronger and wiser in time.

Your prayers are appreciated. Any donations will be helpful. My PayPal account for donations is WaterwayRealty@gmail.com

My direct phone, until disconnected for non-payment is 786-229-7999

Hello Mott,

NABPOP does work to learn, but we've got nearly the same info for free. Plus, regardless of what is stated, I heard it firsthand from the VPs of some of the larger BPO companies that they don't care if you've done NABPOP, but they do appreciate some of NABPOP's political stances.

I used to be with NABPOP, and when it came member renewal time I asked them what good they did besides making the fight to legalize BPOs. The response, well, there wasn't one. I recieved a phone call and asked the same thing. They couldn't prove they helped my business, and didn't know what to say.

BPO training/education matters more than experience, and while many agents disagree with this, they haven't had the conversations with the people who make the decisions at some of these BPO companies. If you have lots of experience, when you sign up don't just focus on that, make sure you add in the bpo education you've recieved because it will help.

Best of luck!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for you question....You are correct there is a big need for agents to do a Brokers Price Opinion (BPO) the best way to go about getting on a list with financial institutions is calling lenders and filling out a resume..I have found what they are looking for in a realtor's is knowledge and experience with other lenders in determining values! I happen to have been a property appraiser before gettting into real estate so having that background and holding a real estate licence was very helpful.

Hi Mott:

Let me give you some resources.

First of all, check out the National Association of Broker Price Opinion Professionals at http://www.nabpop.com/Home.htm. They certify professionals in the BPO process.

Secondly, I would check out http://www.REOPro.NING.com, its a REO Professionals Network with almost 300 members across the country. They have incredible blogs about starting a REO / BPO business, who the contacts are, how to get in touch with those contacts and much much more.
