How can I watch the foreclosure auctions in the Dutchess County Courthouse?

Asked by Rolf Mueller, Fishkill, NY Sat Jan 5, 2008

I would like to get a feeling for what is being traded at the foreclosure auctions held in the Dutchess County Courthouse. Can I just go there to watch the auction? Or would I have to make a deposit, for example?

If you make a winning bid, what forms of payment are acceptable for the deposit?

Check the Poughkeepsie Journal for legal notices on foreclosures. Any real property that is being auctioned off will be listed with the date and time of the auction. These are held on the steps of the county courthouse on Market St. in Poughkeepsie

Hello Rolf. The foreclosure auctions are usually open to the general public and you should be able to go there and just watch. The only time you'd have to make a deposit is if you submit the winning bid. Have fun at the auction.
