No, do not send anyone money through the mail, especially if you haven't met the person. This is a common theme in scams-and they lure you along with a crazy-low rental rate.

Run away!

As others have said, don't send him money.

Have you considered buying? Last month the lowest sold price on the MLS for a single family home in Campbell was $585,000. The lowest sold price for a condo was $357,000.

Let me join the chorus of agents who are telling you the you would be foolish to mail money to an unknown “landlord” with the expectation that you will be able to rent this house.

Has the landlord shown you the house? I bet the answer is “no”.
Is the rent surprisingly low? I bet the answer is “yes”.
Has the landlord told you that he had to leave the area suddenly due to a missionary calling or job change?

This one appears to be a scam.

The only thing you have to know about he owner that he's running a scam. Don't send the money without meeting him in-person on the property.

Sounds like a scam to me. I cant think of any real home owners that would have you mail money. Never wire or mail money for a rental and never rent sight unseen.

No legitimate offer to rent a home would require you to send money to the owner through the mail. Run away from this one!

Hi Rick,
It's good that you asked, because this is a scam to steal your money. Never, I mean NEVER, send any money to someone you do not know. These scams are rampant and the way to avoid them is to always meet the owner or the property manager in person and verify who they are and if they can legally rent you the property. Property owners names are public records that you can find out at the County Recorder's Office. Property managers must have a valid license from the BRE (California Bureau of Real Estate).

Good luck,
Roland

Does the owner's first name start with a M and last name start with a C?

NEVER send money through the mail.
