Most owners/landlords in Pasadena and the surrounding areas will want a recent credit report. However, some landlords will double the security deposit if your credit scores are low. You can always write a letter to the landlord with a detailed explanation when submitting your application. This has worked for a few people I know.
I would say that you should be prepared to pay two months security deposit and b e able to explain why you have poor credit. You will have a better chance of renting an apt though offered by a private landlord--there is a lot of competition for houses.

It's had to imagine any landlord or agent not pulling credit. Instead of trying to find someone who will not requIre a credit check, explain why your credit is so poor and what you are doing to correct it. Don't blame anyone or have excuses. Own it. People tend to respond much better to the truth than to excuses and attempts to work around requirements.
